Understand the real value of any casino bonus before you claim it
See what your casino bonus is really worth
Wagering requirements (also called playthrough) are the number of times you must bet your bonus before you can withdraw winnings. For example, a £10 bonus with 35x wagering means you must place £350 in bets before you can cash out.
In the UK, a wagering requirement of 20x or below is considered good value. Anything above 35x is high and makes a bonus difficult to clear. Always use our calculator above to work out the true cost of a bonus before you claim it — the headline offer can be misleading without knowing the wagering attached.
Some casinos offer wager-free bonuses (also called 0x wagering), meaning any winnings from your bonus can be withdrawn immediately as real cash with no conditions attached. These are the most valuable type of bonus you can find.
A smaller wager-free bonus is nearly always worth more in practice than a larger bonus with high wagering requirements. For example, £5 in wager-free free spins is often more valuable than a £50 bonus with 40x wagering — which would require £2,000 in bets before you could withdraw a penny. Look for the "Wager Free ✓" indicator in our calculator above.
Free spins give you a set number of spins on a specific slot game, each with a fixed value — usually £0.10 per spin. So 50 free spins at £0.10 gives you a total bonus value of £5. Match bonuses give you a percentage of your deposit as bonus cash — a 100% match on a £50 deposit gives you £50 extra to play with.
Both types can have wagering requirements attached, so the headline number doesn't tell the whole story. Use our calculator to compare the real value of different offers side by side before you decide which bonus to claim.
It depends entirely on the wagering requirements. A large bonus with high wagering (e.g. 50x) can be extremely difficult to clear and statistically unlikely to result in a withdrawal. A smaller bonus with low or no wagering is often far more valuable in practice.
As a rule of thumb: wager-free bonuses are always worth claiming, bonuses under 20x wagering are generally good value, and anything above 35x should be approached with caution. All UK casinos are required by the UKGC to display bonus terms clearly — always read the full T&Cs before depositing.
